The 2.5-liter turbocharged intercooled Boxer four-cylinder produces 305 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 290 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm, featuring Subaru's Dual Active Valve Control System. A 6-speed close-ratio manual is the only transmission available on the STI — Subaru never offered a paddle-shift option, keeping the driving experience entirely in the driver's hands. Brembo four-piston front calipers clamp 13-inch ventilated discs, with the driver-controlled center differential managing power distribution across all four wheels.
